Picnic on the Square
April 19th from 5:00pm to 7:00pm on the Gilmer Courthouse lawn the Chamber and First National Bank of Gilmer are sponsoring a "meet and greet" event for our community.

Evening of Dance Performance for the Whole Family
The Dance Alliance Performance Tour from Brigham Young -Idaho will be performing at the Gilmer Civic Center at 7:00p.m. on Thursday April 21st.
The program features 34 university dancers in an hour and a half program consisting of ballroom, ballet, swing, tap, jazz and contemporary movements. The music, costumes and choreography are always family appropriate. Complimentary tickets are available by calling 903.734.1758
Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Bunny is coming to Gilmer on Saturday morning, April 23rd. The annual Easter Egg Hunt will kick off at 11:00 a.m. SHARP on the south side of the Upshur County Courthouse. This is for children ages 1-8 years. There will be prize eggs in each age division. Moms will need to bring cameras, as the Easter bunny will be available to pose with the children for pictures. Community Fund Easter Bake Sale
The Upshur County Community Fund will be having a bake sale on Saturday, April 23rd at two locations. The Courthouse location will be open 10:00 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. This location will have cookies, candies, and cupcakes. The Wal-Mart location will be open 9:00 a.m until 2:00 p.m. or until all products are sold. This location will have cakes and pies. The unsold products from the Courthouse location will be transferred to the Wal-Mart location after 11:15. Stop by and get your Easter desserts and support the Upshur County Community Fund .
The Upshur County Community Players Present "Barbecuing Hamlet"
April 29th 7:00pm, April 30th 2:30pm and an evening performance at 7:00pm.

Yamboree Queen’s Race
The East Texas Yamboree Queen’s race will run June 6-17. Seven young ladies representing local civic clubs will be out selling barn dance tickets and Queen’s Coronation vouchers. The winner of the race will be crowned queen of the 74th Yamboree in October.
Barn dance tickets are $20 in advance and $25 at the door. Coronation vouchers are $15 and will be turned in when purchasing reserved seating tickets. Reserved seat tickets will be $10 for auditorium and $5 for retractable
